Iconic Austin toy shop, Toy Joy, which made local headlines when it moved downtown last April, is now closing for good.

Opening in 1987, the store, which catered to both kids and adults, had made its home on Guadalupe St. near the University of Texas campus. Last year, it had moved to 2nd St. downtown, but apparently that wasn't enough to drive in enough business to keep it going.

“2013 was an awful, awful year for us,” co-owner Trevor Yopp told the Austin Statesman..

As of now, no Going-Out-Of-Business sale or the like are planned but patrons are encouraged to come by the store while, in Yopp's words "they still can."

Toy fanatics who still want to shop local can still visit Terra Toys in North Austin.
