Texas Capitol Revs Up for Biker Invasion
Bikers, Motorcycles, and Music- OH MY!
This weekend, thousands of motorcycles and bikers alike will transform the downtown streets of Austin into a four day block party, in what is known as the Republic of Texas Rally, or ROT for short.
ROT Rally is the biggest motorcycle rally in Texas. It covers a variety of events over the course of four days. ROT Rally is held at the Travis County Exposition Center where there are a number of musical acts, bike shows, bike builders, and over 350 vendors and distributors. ROT Rally is a biker's dream! With musical acts ranging from Los Lonely Boys and Twisted Sister, to Vince Neil (of Motley Crue) and Texas Flood (Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band), this year's biker rally promises to bigger and better than ever.
ROT Rally is a big deal in Austin. Not only is there a ton of things going on at the Expo Center, downtown Austin is transformed into a biker's haven. Congress Ave. will turn into a parade of bikes and their owners on Friday, June 14th. The escorted parade of bikes will leave the Expo Center and make a grand entrance onto Congress Ave later that evening.
Covering over 54 blocks of downtown, you are sure to run into a few friendly bikers at any given bar. If you have never been to ROT Rally, I highly recommend it- there is so much to see- even if you're not a biker; they welcome everyone with open arms! I have been lucky enough to go, and it is always a blast! The ROT Rally expects more than 50,000 participants, and Austin expects to draw in over 200,000 spectators.
The ROT Rally officially kicks off on June 13th, and runs through June 16th. You don't want to miss this event -- just another thing that makes Austin so great! Enjoy.
